The Green Idea
The project:
- To create an outdoor area that will provide a healthy and safe place to play, learn and develop a genuine respect for nature and each other.- We aim to bring students into a closer hands on relationship with the natural world while educating them about the importance of protecting the environment.- Our natural playground will provide a retreat that stimulates their minds and exercises their bodies.
How we'll make it happen:
- With the support of our school and local community, we will have two to three phases, with planting of large deciduous trees being the first phase- Fundraising and further community and corporate support will enable us to complete our project
How it will positively impact the environment:
The trees will remove co2 from the air and help fight global warming. They produce oxygen and give songbirds a home.
How we'll measure its success:
Yes, the results of our plan are measurable. We have taken before photos, and will continue to capture our progress through video and photography as we progress.
Who's participating :
In this project we have the involvement of school administration, kindergarten teachers, students and parents, parent council and the school green team which includes senior students, teachers and parents. We have also partnered with Evergreen, which has provided guidance in the development of our plan.
